KIRKUS REVIEW

Welcome back to Picken, the adventuring son of the Gambian chief, whose derring do was so admirably outlined in Picken's Great Adventure and the others in Mr. Davis' series. This time Picken's father sends him on a mission to recover the lost throne of a friendly neighbor chief. He accomplishes the deed with jungle wisdom, fortitude, common sense and the help of Benjie, his pet monkey. Exciting incidents and splendid two tone cuts by Winslade add a dignity and stature that tell a great deal about Africa.
