KIRKUS REVIEW

This has less humor than The Cautious Amorist -- and little else to recommend it. The story of an artist seeking solitude on the Australian coast, and finding his private life interrupted by a bank clerk from his city boarding house, a sex-starved spinster, a drink-sodden old dame living in a neighboring hovel, and her beautiful but dumb granddaughter. Can't see the market for it.
