THE EVERBLOOMING GARDEN

Hot on the heels of putting the garden to bed for the long winter I view with some scepticism a title like The Everblooming Garden (site- Connecticut). But, in the main, the emphasis is on the climate area that New York and Connecticut represent, with exceptions noted. The purpose- to help home gardeners to have continuous bloom through shrubs, chiefly, with a few- a very few -bulbs, and as spring approaches, perennials. The witchhazel family, corylopsis, Chinese honeysuckle, gladden mid winter months; Christmas Rose, Winter aconite, and then the snowdrops and some very special crocuses. With March, the choice is more familiar, both in shrubs and perennials and bulbs. But on the whole, except for the hardy and determined gardener, winter has its own beauties and the everblooming garden seems a doubtful substitute.
