FLIGHT FROM REALITY

A miscellany of information and incidentals about stimulants and narcotics, these include details about the plants, their historical and etymological origins, their habitat and culture, the euphoric effects they bring and the moral censure they arouse, with references both literary and actual. You will learn a little about hashish, the ""pleasant assassin"", and hemp and its many derivatives; opium, morphine and heroin; the Mexicans' cloliuqui and the Indians' peyotl; tobacco and alcohol; coffee, chocolate and tea; etc. etc. Never concentrating on the more corrupt, insidious or injurious aspects of these, this is gently informative, almost fragrant in tone.
