KIRKUS REVIEW

The leader of the Socialist Party in America looks back over a life devoted to his political creed, and finds that his faith in the middle road of true socialism and personal pacifism is unshaken. He reviews the patriot fervor that precipitated us into World War I, the hope-provoking Russian revolution and the disillusion as their aims were debased. He views socialism between the wars and the attendant rise of fascism, the mistakes of the more recent years, the progress of British socialism and the hopes for the future. Well-written, this may prove persuasive to readers caught in the net of world conflict.
