KIRKUS REVIEW

Blood and thunder western, set in Texas near the Mexican line, as Jim Carson whose older brother has a ranch, battles it out with the desperado, Garza, a Mexican who bothers little about the law, -- for the ownership of the Appaloosa, Nopalero. Nothing is too low for Garza; a man's life seems to him a small price to pay for what he wants. Jim, his friend, chance-met Kurt, and some good neighbors win through to success, but a gamble and some long risks are taken before the end. This isn't really a horse and boy story; rather is it an old style western, with all the stops pulled.
