Two children enjoy the great outdoors surrounded by the many colors of nature.

Two children—one with olive skin and cute black braids and wearing a skirt, boots, and sparkly backpack; the other with white skin, a head of curly red hair and wearing shorts and sneakers—are out enjoying a summer day. Each double-page spread is dedicated to a color. As the children run through a green meadow the text points out one object—“Green boots”—and then invites readers to find more: “What else can you see that’s green?” As they sit under a tree next to a river, the text says, “Blue river,” and then, “What other things can you see that are blue?” The mixed-media illustrations are full of details that keen observers will delight in exploring as they search for more objects in the given color. The colors covered are: green, red, orange, black, yellow, pink, purple, blue, white, turquoise, gray, and brown. On the last spread, as the children sit on the grass surrounded by many of the objects from previous pages, the sun is shining, but there’s also some rain coming down in the distance. Time for a rainbow and also for a little lesson in physics!

A sweet addition to the ever expanding colors bookshelf.
