THE KITTEN WHO LISTENED

A fetching little tale about a string of fine names and how the names and the kitten came together. Although no one in the family -- Mr. Levering, Mrs. Levering, Brother William, Cousin Emma, the Twins and even the milkman -- owned a cat, each one had a special name for the cats they would own some day -- and they argued loudly and long, each one claiming his name to be the best. However, when the kitten without a home listened and heard all the names at once, he knew he had found a proper home and a wonderful distinguished name -- ""Wip-Cat, Sing-Song, Kitty-Penny, Meow, Nicodemus-Alexander, Jeremiah-Longfellow, Pink-Foot, Nuisance Levering"". Nineteen pictures, twelve in two colors, nine in black and white by the author -- beautifully designed but perhaps a bit too fussy for children. However, on the whole a charming surprise book. Paper over board with cloth strip.
