TEACHING THE OLD TESTAMENT

This manual for teachers should prove to be of great value to all who would teach the Old Testament in such a way as not to raise more questions in the pupils' mind than the ones he attempts to answer. Legend, myth and history are all intermingled in the books of the Old Testament, and scholars in recent years have made great progress in distinguishing one from the other, and showing their significance in the life and faith of Israel. Miss O. Jessie Lace, lecturer and tutor at William Temple College, England, proves herself to be a competent guide who is familiar with the agreements and diversities in Old Testament studies, the character of its witness to the meaning of life, and the dynamic realism of its faith in God. All this she relates to the problems of our age, and any teacher who will follow her suggestions as to the best way to apply the insights of the best modern scholarship she provides cannot help being a better teacher to more interested pupils, whether young people or adults.
