KIRKUS REVIEW

An excellent handbook which deals more with what to do and what not to do, than with mere regulations found in official handbooks. The author writes from the inside, with some looking back on personal first day experience. He advises building up physical resistance in advance is good lant for the high school youth who faces ultimate absorption in the serviced, tells what to take and what to leave at home, discusses army etiquette, whys and wherefores, and gives extensive range of data, concretely presented, as to equipment, medical and legal advantages, pay, promotion, etc. All of this should be of interest to those under draft age, also.
