Olga Maynard, whose work lies ""with the values of theater arts as applied in practice within education,"" offers a series of approaches to children and their responses in music and dance. She places the child at home--a randomly musical or professionally musical one; the child in school (with pilot programs for different age groups, teaching ""discovery,"" dance related to Physical Education, etc.). She profiles the child as artist (""The true gift takes no thought of place or person but when it is evoked it must be recognized and cherished, or it may wither from neglect""), stressing that personal desire should predicate all formal training, and as a social person (in community, church, group). She discusses the specter of deviation, particularly among males, in the arts; new music. She refers to professionals to present her programs. A creative approach which can be incorporated in a conventional setting.
