Romance, mystery and architecture mix in this light-weight novel for girls. Hope Blair, soon to begin studies in architecture in New York, hoping to follow in the footsteps of her architect father, had been friends with Breck Goddard, now studying at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia. However, when the Blairs move to a yawl called the Gull while Mr. Blair's new apartment building on Riverside Drive is under completion, Hope meets Ron Colby on his schooner, and finds him unusually attractive. Luckily, she soon discovers that he is a spoiled boy, unstable and confused, turns again to Breck, and they plan a future together. Hope also helps to solve a mystery concerning the hired captain of the Gull who, it seems, has been smuggling diamonds. Second rate.
