KIRKUS REVIEW

A swashbuckling collection of American folk tales, tall stories and legends. Some concern such notorious figures as Captain Kidd, Johnny Appleseed, Pecos Bill and Paul Bunyan. ""Hants"" and witches flit and gibber through several episodes --even the still unquiet ghost of Jean La Fitte. Many of these yarns, which are all regional, have to do with the industry of the section -- railroading, logging, coal-mining, etc. Recommended for the whole family.
