Beets and their cultivation near Salt Lake City are the matrix of Peter (of Peter's Sheep Ranch and others) Brown's most recent, information laden, project. As his father has just bought a new farm, Peter is all excited about the move to the country. He gets his own dog and horse, makes friends with a neighboring beet farm boy and becomes generally expert in all points of sugar producing from planting to refining. Fine 5th and 6th grade reading.
