THE SWANS OF WILLOW POND

Following the same unsentimentalized pattern as her Robins in the Garden, Thunder Wings etc. this short sketch of the life cycle of a family of swans presents fascinating material in well planned story form. First, there is the young cob, at home in a northern pond. When winter comes he migrates, meets and battles for a mate in the south, and migrates again with her to raise another brood. These incidents and the characteristics of the breed are dramatically realized in the author's pencil drawings too.
