FREE MEN ARE FIGHTING

History is being made every hour and the chroniclers are the foreign correspondents. Some of the best writing of the day is appearing in the daily press, so it is well that Oliver Cramling is bringing together the best of the news stories written by the A P correspondents. The text reads as a chronology of events from August 28, 1939, to July 4, 1942, and the net impression is the best total recall of the past three years that could be given. The editor has woven the news stories together by brief connecting paragraphs, placing the correspondent for locale and time. There is an extraordinarily high level of good writing, so that it reads in easy narrative style, dramatic, sufficiently detailed, and interesting even for those to whom it is not new.
