KIRKUS REVIEW

The Life and Times of the Metropolitan Opera House receive attention here in a text-and-pictorial review of the Met's seventy-five years. Opera News editors Merkling, Freeman and Fitzgerald provide the text with Arthur Solin; there is a prologue by Eleanor R. Belmont; an epilogue by Anthony A. Bliss. 400 photographs present some 250 stars, along with impresarios, conductors, designers. The reproductions are not uniformly good, the few color photographs are blurry , while the black-and-whites vary, which must be expected in historic rather than art-oriented material. Almost a gala performance.
