NEW ADVENTURES IN DEMOCRACY

By

Publisher: Whittlesey

An author experienced in the fields of education, public service and industry contributes an important analysis on the place a living and breathing democracy has in these three facets of life for the individual and the community. The thesis -- built on acceptance of the fact that trade unionism is a permanent factor, and must be reckoned with, -- is that out of group thinking leadership is developed which will subordinate personal ambition to the welfare of the community. The book is idealistic, perhaps, but provocative in its challenge to the younger generation in business and industry to accept the new ways of thought and action, and not to fear group thinking and group organization, whether in schools and colleges, in civic life or in labor organization. The opening chapters seem theoretical and abstract, but once the text gets under way it is constructive and interesting reading.
