Joseph Hobart, an extraordinarily enterprising seventeen-year old, organizes a European tour and assumes difficult leadership. The Hobart Tour Group consists of post-high, pre-college students plus a few carefully selected adults. Joseph struggles gallantly in the face of continental romance, a stranded cable car, et al to hold the group together. The writing is adequate, but the plot construction often seems as disjointed as the tour itself. Generally, a discouraging view of the paid-tour vacation.
