KIRKUS REVIEW

A most satisfactory book -- not only for content but for looks and illustrations, by the author. About Greece -- but not all about Greece -- this offers some highly amusing description and commentary on the people and their characteristics, and an assortment of places, -- some islands, Attica, Athens, the Child Harold country, etc. Although the humor does not outweigh the serious aspects, it adds a deft touch to the illuminating pictures of the country today and the glimpses of its history, for the author's artist's eye is ably translated by his cogent, crisp style, and the overall effect is one of fresh perspective and a certain bright charm. There should be a pleasantly special market for this.
