A New England tradition is celebrated in a lengthy song from Carousel (1945), with the sort of imaginative lyrics and lusty melody that made the old-time Broadway musical a legend. In her sprightly illustrations, Westcott updates costumes, adds a watermelon to the menu, and depicts a crowd of children, their parents, and old salts feasting with gusto, all colorfully bordered with good things to eat. Melody (too difficult for the target group to sing) with full lyrics included. Not really necessary, but fun.
