KIRKUS REVIEW

Theopilus Ransome, with an established record of mental instability and arson, is charged with theft and murder that of the father of the girl he was to marry. The Yard's Special Branch man, inspector Baker, works against the predispositions of a local detective to clear Ransome in a case where an Oriental objet d'art as well as the money prove important and where the dead man's son provides an alternate suspect. Closely, carefully pursued, considered and concluded.
