KIRKUS REVIEW

This is definitely addressed to social scientists, rather than to the general public. The Carnegie Corporation has sponsored a set of monographs on the Negro and this is a compilation of the material. First the popular views toward the Negro are presented; then the results of scientific investigation based on statistical surveys. There are from literature, there are studies of Negro intelligence, with the influences of regional and cultural background; there is discussion of personality, showing no marked differences from the white; race attitudes; questions of and hybride; and finally a report on mental disease among the race. For anthropologists, students, etc.
