GROUND PLAN OF THE BIBLE

The wide circulation of this book in England stands behind its appearance in an American edition. Such ready acceptance must have good reasons, especially considering how many books about the Bible exist. Three things recommend this book: 1. Sound scholarship has been carefully consulted by the author before drawing his many conclusions. 2. The book is a miracle of brevity, without getting merely vague. After all, the Bible is a big omnibus book, and this volume which describes it, placing events and teaching in their historical setting, and giving some interpretation of its great ideas, is scarcely more than 200 pages. 3. The contents of the book are easy to get at. This is partly because the writing has been arranged in short essays broken into long paragraphs, all with headings defining the contents. To this format has been added good indexing. The result is high accessibility. There are hundreds of thousands of Sunday School teachers who would profit from owning such a book, and many Church Schools might find it suitable for high school seniors. Many are the laymen who need a volume just like this, which helps open the Bible without getting technical or requiring a college training for real communication. The Book is relatively easy to read, especially if your copy of the Bible is kept handy.
