Pub Date: Feb. 7th, 1940

A leisurely paced account of Mongolia for armchair travelers and Asiatic connoisseurs, which gives a really convincing feel of a remote country. Every aspect of native life, travel, customs, together with the place these people take in Oriental affairs. He gives the very texture of the country from cookery to handling camels, from caravaning and camping to racial characteristics and forms of conversation. Observant comment on China, Japan and Russia and their interests in Mongolia, plus the reverse side of the picture in the Mongolian attitude towards all three. Here is a feel for little things that other travelers have passed over in favor of their personal response.
