MY TEXAS 'TIS OF THEE

By

Publisher: Putnam

Here's one of the best contributions to the Texas Centenary picture, and a book that should have a wider sale than simply a regional one. The author is a bit homesick for the good old days when a man was judged by his ability to hold liquor and to sling lead, and he succeeds in giving permanent form to some of his memories (his and others) of the past. He writes of some of the characters of the past, -- Luke Short, Doc Holliday the Earps, Slim Pickens; he tells of the rise of the ranchers; he takes us on a quick run through the old towns. And he makes it all amusing reading, good entertainment. A man's book.
