AIRCRAFT OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE SINCE 1918

The present volume seeks to provide what is virtually an encyclopedia of aircraft which have served with the Royal Air Force since its formation on 1 April 1918 to the present day."" The emphasis has been placed on aircraft serving in some numbers; no prototype or experimental planes are included. Altogether, 187 types are described in detail with technical data as to description, list of manufacturers, power plant, dimensions, weights, performance, armaments, and a historical essay as to operation, also squadron allocations. An additional 96 types are given briefer attention and one photograph, and there is a list of all civil aircraft that bore the RAF insignia during World War II.
