MUNGO STARKE

A short novel of the sea, a boat and the four men on her, catches the drama of a storm tersely. Cut off from the fishing fleet homing to Scarvaig, they are dashed onto an island. Later association between Mungo, Angus and Donald is broken up over Mungo's failure to rescue Joe a second time. Graphic seascapes and four characters in contrast make up a story of classic derivation.
