Based on a traditional Russian folk tale, this is the story of Ivan, the youngest, stupidest, but bravest of three peasant brothers. He managed to secure the strange, homely little horse Humpy which could save him from any predicament, but he also acquired a bad luck feather from a fire bird. As chief groom to the Tsar he is sent on a series of unreasonable tasks, which Humpy helps him to accomplish, but eventually Ivan marries the beautiful Princess Faraway and becomes Tsar himself. The Slavic story is well-balanced with a solid base but many unusual, fantastic elements--to the taste of fairy tale enthusiasts who want something out of the ordinary.
