KIRKUS REVIEW

The authentic charm and detail of the Costa Rican setting of this story are almost ruined by unsure narration and artificial dialogue. Too bad. Tale of Cabita's first visit to her father's huge ranch, where she tames a talking parrokeet, makes herschair ropes and leather , learns about exotic plants and strange animals. Zhenya Jay illustrations will give this a ""first edition value"" for her col.
