TRACKS ACROSS THE SKY

By

Publisher: Lippincott

Not nearly as thrilling as the Caidin, but full of bravado and some humor, the subject here is 45 years of flying the mail. Wilson stood on the White House lawn in 1918, very impatient, waiting for the first mail plane to take off. It didn't, for over an hour--then they remembered to put the gas in. More crashes per page than a child with his first nickel glider. No maps for years--just haystacks, crossroads, and the seats of some very brave pants.
