JOY AND THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL

A story of New Year's night which takes away the sorrow of Christmas and Christmas week being over. Joy and her little brother, Stephen, were sad for tomorrow the tree was to come down but when Joy got out of bed to investigate a strange noise she found the little wax angel from the top of the tree, and all the toys and ornaments having a party, to which the children were invited. The next morning they found that the angel had left them a very special surprise. (A nice hint to parents, by the way, for the disappointing day when the tree comes down.) This is the kind of dream-pretend that only child-like children who are not too old at seven or eight to love their toys unashamedly will like. It does not belong to the glaring world of television, to children who insist upon knowing that it ""really happened"" before they are content to give themselves to stories. The fine little drawings by the author are a bit precious, some may think, and stylized, but they have great charm. A sort of snob appeal book.
