PARADISE SQUARE

A book similar to Playtime in Cherry Street in its chronicles of David, 5 1/2, and Carol, 4 1/2, the toys they have and the toys they find, and the friends they make. They collect silver paper, they get the measles, they break some Christmas ornaments, they have tea and garden parties, Carol gets mislaid, there are presents for each, and they are not always in their Mother's good graces. But when Christmas comes, with a letter to Santa Claus and the promise not to hang up their own stockings, but the doll's, they wake to a happy Christmas Day. The story has an ""itsy-bitsy"" quality which is also evident in the author's blue and white drawings, as mannered as usual. A specialized market here.
