AS FAR AS SINGAPORE

Although her financial situation forbids the trip, 18 year old Fenella longs to rejoin her parents in Penang. Thus she is overjoyed when her ad in the London Times results in a position as governess to two Chinese children to be relayed to the Chongs, their parents, in Singapore. The exciting often humorous details of the airline voyage, the efforts of Fenells to locate the Chongs on arrival, informative descriptions of the sights, people and food of this far away land as the trio are guided by Fuong, an irrepressible cab driver, and elements of intrigue and romance promise first rate reading for teenage girls, via smooth and seasoned writing.
