There's a tinge of Richard Hughes' somewhat morbid and introverted child psychology in this story of the group of children locked up in a barn -- and the constant parallel of the group's waiting for Rolf -- always eager to escape bonds -- in adult life. English intellectual background -- brittle -- sophisticated -- too long for the crystallization the idea demands. Highbrow market.
