FLIGHT SURGEON

A lively story of Naval Aviation, in which young Dave investigates problems of preserving fliers through protective methods, by becoming pilot as well as doctor. He rebels against careless examination, and before he gets his wings makes himself his own guinea pig to prove his answer to four similar -- crack-ups. Once an accepted pilot, he campaigns for a hospital ship, gets it, and is sent to Panama for the war games. He tangles with the Rear-Admiral, resigns as a pilot and is sent doctoring. When his best friend crashes, Dave is hell bent to save him, and does, operating in the new plane. Both Bo and Dave get full measure of reward. Rattles right along, with plenty of details about the navy, aviation, higher-ups and youngsters, drinking, medical problems in aviation, -- your money's worth of information in an easy dose, flavored with romance.
