KIRKUS REVIEW

Dictionary of sports terminology, including some 9,000 terms in alphabetical order, from slang to orthodox, and covering every known sport. This should provide the authoritative answer to controversial points of terminology, particularly as it is carefully cross-indexed, and includes an appendix listing terms classified by sport, giving box scores, tournament procedure, summaries and charts. 120 illustrations of equipment and diagrams of officials' signals add to its usefulness. The descriptive matter is comprehensive enough to make it virtually a small, one volume encyclopedia, more than adequate for the reference shelves of athletic clubs, schools, etc. Sturdily bound, reenforced, good clear type.
