INHERIT THE PROMISE by Parker Pierson

INHERIT THE PROMISE

By

Publisher: Seabury Press

Dr. Parker, Professor of New Testament at the General Theological Seminary (Episcopal) New York, offers his readers in this book six keys which will unlock for them the ways in which the generation that witnessed the revelation of God in Christ thought about what they saw and heard. He thus shows that early Christian thought forms are rooted firmly in Hebrew religions and historical concepts which he proceeds to describe clearly and interestingly. The key ideas are those of the Covenant, the Law the New Age truth by contraries, physical versus spiritual and the Man. These are examined in relation to the impact made by Jesus Christ upon his followers. Out of this study comes the assurance that Christianity does inherit the promise made of old by God to man, and that modern biblical study, rightly understood, has in fact deepened the faith of our fathers. Dr. Parker has written with candor and clarity, a book that will be most helpful to clergy and people--one which ministers may refer to their inquiring, or even disturbed, people, with confidence.
