Cummings' brilliantly hued pictures delight the eye in this enjoyable fantasy of how those weird and wonderful cloud shapes, sunsets and sunrises are created. Chuku, a new C.L.O.U.D.S. (Creative Lights, Opticals and Unusual Designs in the Sky) employee, is given New York City's sky as his first assignment. It's called a ""less demanding area,"" which he discovers is true because ""no one ever looks up."" Chuku is inspired to his most original cloud formations when he notices a girl named Chrissy watching the plain blue sky one day in the park. From then on, Chuku entertains her, using colors like ""Oh So Turquoise"" and ""Cloud Lining Silver"" in a daily private show. As a result, Chuku's supervisor offers to transfer him to the tropics to reward his creativity. But Chuku wants to stay in New York to continue his work for Chrissy, so he breaks the rules. Chuku and his sky designs will undoubtedly enchant young readers.
