KIRKUS REVIEW

A standard brand boy and dog story set in New Brunswick, Canada, takes 13 year old Jack Miller and Kata the wolf dog he tames and trains, through a routine set of adventures before Kata shuns the call of the wild for real domestication. Finding Kata trapped as a puppy, Jim brings him home to the farm and persuades his family to let him stay. As the month's go Kata's almost human intelligence impresses everyone but there is always the occasional accident that indicates the wolf in him. Finally Kata tracks a criminal- and fights the wolves himself, and his future with Jack is sealed. But the conclusion is foregone.
