THE CULT OF THE CAT

Here, in one short volume, is apparently every catty myth, legend, folk tale, and idiom the author could lay her hands on. Good cats and bad cats, big cats and little cats, deified cats and vilified cats and victimized cats, cats' eyes, cats and mice, cattiness in women, all are joyously studied for the light they may cast on the light/dark unconscious side of human nature. Cat enthusiasts may like all this, but for the student of human nature, it seems rather the long way 'round-especially since the blend of mysticism and psychology that dominates the presentation is considerably more confusing than enlightening.
