KIRKUS REVIEW

Another dooestopper yarn about Keltia (The Hedge of Mist, 1996, etc.), the space empire founded by Saint Brendan the Astrogator in the fifth century. Now without a ruler, Keltia has become dominated by the Incomers, or Firvolgi. Still, Athyn Cahanagh, the Blackmantle, will rise to become High Queen, and fall in love with the bard Morric Douglas--until he's poisoned by his old Firvolgi flame Amzalsunäa Dalgarno. Eventually, Athyn must confront the spiteful Amzalsunäa, but her greater task will be to bring her beloved Morric back from the dead. Strictly for the fans.
