Look-it-up? kids can copy it! In two pages of elementary-(school) exposition is a sketchy history of each state and brief mention of its climate and topography, its natural resources and products, plus, in tabular form, its official bird-flower-tree-song-nickname and other necessities; the encyclopedia is a treasure house by comparison. The author (a euphemism) does try to characterize each state slightly, but the capsules assume a stultifying similarity as models. Look it up used to mean find out -- abstract and organize; here it means find it.
