THE POINTED BRUSH

A lovely book with enchanting pictures in color by Roger Duvoisin. The text and pictures have caught the essential flavor of the Chinese village and the farmer who saw no reason to take his five able-bodied sons from the rice fields to send them to school- but only Sixth Son, who was too small. Then the test comes of the value of knowledge, when only Sixth Son can work the miracle of getting his uncle freed from a false charge. Whether the story carries over its lesson to reluctant small Americans who see no value in school, the beauty of the book will captivate them.
