KIRKUS REVIEW

Daphne Wilder goes to stay with her godmother Margaret Sylvain in Montreal since Margaret is very nervous -- her two previous companions have met sudden death and unpleasant people surround her a threatening brother, an unctuous lawyer and a surly laundress. And it would seem that Daphne too has not long to live but neither will this -- it's so girlish it almost squeals.
