THE FASTEST FUNNY CAR

Braces, glasses and 110-1b, weakling OUT; enter Larry Cooke, tall attractive straight-A plus piano talent, high school senior and engineering aspirant. He's playing piano at a stodgy hotel and evading the energetic pursuit of a strongminded (but pretty) guest; at night he is pursuing his true love, hot rods. Phoney problems--the girl's rejected suitor (a model of the disdainful rich boy), the manager's snobbery, the girl herself--are simply solved, the big race is won by Larry himself because the owner breaks his ankle at the eleven-and-a-halfth hour. Minimal plot trussed up with hot rodding innards, pockmarked with contrivance, replete with weak rank-out witticisms.
