The success of the Snyder Stud Farm hinged on whether Ajaz, an Arabian horse, would perform well before a crowd. Nervous and fretful, the animal showed favorable progress under the training of De Souci, a trainer from the Saumar, one of the world's greatest training centers. Roger Daniels, Ajaz's rider, built his hopes up, until the fateful day when the horse rushed into fire to save a man's life in an explosion. On the day of the show, Roger finds that the nervous excitement of the fire had done no permanent damage to the animal. Plausible, but neither Roger nor Ajaz assume reality.
