Stop smoking. . .and after that Dr. Maroon enjoins, affirmatively, that you have nothing to fear except fear and everything to gain if you do not lose time. Cancer will develop in one out of every four (fifty million) Americans; the disease exists in some 100 different forms; and early diagnosis and treatment are imperative. He discusses, briefly, the parts of the body most commonly attacked from the lungs (are you ""literally dying for a cigarette""?) to the skin where it is most detectable and curable, explains very soundly and simply the prevalent means of curing the disease (surgery and radiation), warns against quackery, supports the American Cancer Society, and illustrates all this with charts, diagrams and specific examples. The book fulfills its objectives -- it is cautionary, instructive and firm.
