THE HUNTING HORN & Other Dog Stories

The thirteen dog stories are not limited by locale, breed or type for they range over the United States, to India and even Australia and they tell of hunting dogs, mutts, pets and heroes. The boy who buys a dog instead of the coveted hot rod finds he has made a good investment with a win at a field trial; the peerless fox hounds get their prey, even in death; a pariah dog saves a man's life as does an unwanted mongrel; canine commandos are the instruments for wiping out the Japs on a Pacific island; a murder is done and the dead man's dog brings vengeance to the killer; a gun dog is an example to a hunter; a chow gets a bad name but is defended by his master, etc., etc. Along with the dog lore there's plenty of sentiment for dog-loving humans.
