This book -- Deserts on the March -- is the perfect introduction to Chase's more comprehensive, more thorough covering of the subject. Originally published by The Oklahoma Press, it has now been taken over by Simon & Schuster, and should thereby reach the wider market it deserves. It is a living tale of ""dust to dust"" or the failure of man to budget nature's resources properly, resulting in desolation caused by erosion. This book gives warning to man that nature cannot be conquered except on her own terms, which require clear understanding of the relation of plant and animal to their environments. It's exciting reading.
